Polymer‐Grafted Nanoparticles as Single‐Component, High Filler Content Composites via Simple Transformative Aging

چکیده

Polymer-grafted nanoparticles (PGNPs) are ideal additives to enhance the mechanical properties and functionality of a polymer matrix can even potentially serve as single-component building blocks for highly filled composites if content is kept low. The major challenge facing such syntheses that PGNP-based solids with short brushes often have low strength limited processability. It therefore remains difficult form robust architectures variety 3D macroscopic shapes from PGNP composites. Forming covalent bonds between cross-linkable PGNPs promising route overcoming this limitation in processability functionality, but cross-linking strategies require careful blending components or slow assembly methods. Here, transformative aging strategy presented uses anhydride enable facile processing via thermoforming into arbitrary shapes. use Tg enables production >30 vol% homogeneously distributed filler, increases stiffness by 1–2 orders magnitude. This be adapted nanofiller compositions versatile approach synthesize nanocomposites functional, mechanically robust, easily processable.

Correlation of filler content and elastic properties of resin-composites.

OBJECTIVES The aim was to determine the Young's modulus (E), bulk modulus (B), shear modulus (G) and Poisson's ratio (nu) of a series of composite restorative materials and to correlate them with their filler volume-fractions. METHODS Twelve model resin-composite formulations, with systematically varied volume-fraction (Tokuyama), a flowable resin-composite (Point 4 flowable, Kerr) and two hy...

Effects of monomer composition and original filler content on filler loading in the resulting centrifuged composites.

This study examined the effects of monomer composition, original filler content, and application of centrifugal force on the resulting filler loading of composites. Either Bis-MPEPP or UDMA was mixed with TEGDMA at a molar ratio of 1 : 1. Silane-treated silica (14-20 wt%) was added to each mixture. After the mixtures were centrifuged and light-polymerized, rate of increase was determined as the...

Ionically Bonded Filler-Elastomer Composites*

Tertiary amine-modified corn starches were converted to their basic or hydroxide form and combined with carboxylated butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer and butadiene-styrene-sulfonic acid polymer to produce ionically bonded filler-elastomer composites. An increasing percentage of the elastomer fraction in the starch-elastomer composite is insolubilized as the starch-to-elastomer ratio increases....
